It can use status coatings (and in past MH elemental coatings, but Im not sure if MHW wil have elemental coatings) but its not the main focus of the weapon.The Felyne Valstrax set provides the highest defense for Palicoes in the base game. It is better used against monsters with Dragon Type attacks. However, this set provides negative resistances for most of the elements.
